'Rakuen' Official Steam Page is now Live! ^_^
Laura's adventure game 'Rakuen' is now on Steam! ^_^
While the game itself is not yet available to buy, the Steam page itself is now live, and you're able to add Rakuen to your Steam Wishlist too! :D

'Rakuen' Official Beta Announcement! ^_^
Rakuen is in it's Beta developement stage! WOOOOHOOO! Go Laura! ^_^
I am so proud of you Laura, from all that you have achieved over the past four years, not to mention all the hurdles you've overcome, to make Rakuen - I believe - one of the most beautifully emotional stories that will ever be in a video game! :D
Here is the Beta Announcement that Laura posted on her Official Rakuen website, as well as future plans for Rakuen such as getting the game shipped!

Rakuen: A new game by Laura Shigihara :D
Hey everyone, hope you're doing well! :)
I'm just letting you all know that Laura has announced her latest game, called 'Rakuen' (or 'paradise', in Japanese) ^_^
"Rakuen is a story-based adventure game about a little Boy who becomes bored with living in a hospital, and eventually asks his mother if she'll escort him to the fantasy world from his favourite storybook. Throughout the game, the Boy begins to learn more about the patients who live around him. They each have their own secrets and struggles that are mysteriously tied to the strange hospital. In helping those around him, the Boy deals with questions about empathy, hope, and what it means to leave behind a legacy by coming to terms with his own story."
In terms of gameplay, Rakuen functions like a mix between Maniac Mansion, To The Moon, and The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (though without battles or fighting). The story and character design is influenced by Japanese mythology and children's culture, as well as films like Miyazaki's Spirited Away.
The game is scheduled to be released early 2014 for PC initially (with possible ports afterwards).
If a great story, characters, and relaxing gameplay wasn't enough, Laura is also composing the soundtrack for Rakuen, which is available for pre-order here. Most of the available tracks can be listened to for free as well, though I would definitely recommend buying the soundtrack so you can get the rest of the tracks free when it is released :)

Laura's collaboration with Meine Meinung... 'Radical Dreamers' from Chrono Cross :)
YAY! Another Laura video ^_^... but this time, she's collaborated with a Japanese band called Meine Meinung in covering the song 'Radical Dreamers' from the Chrono Cross game soundtrack :D

Laura's RPG game 'Melolune' :)
Hey everyone!
Just letting people here know that Laura is working on an RPG game called Melolune.
Here's an excerpt from the story of Melolune :)

'You are Achaius, an enthusiastic and kind human boy. After a catastrophic event takes your parents’ lives, you become separated from your twin due to various circumstances. “The Blue Star” focuses on the life of Achaius several years after his separation from Caleigh.
Time has brought you to a village filled with small cat-like creatures with wings and long tails known as Leebles. Your two best friends are a Leeble named Aero, and the only other human in the village, Dominic.
Recently, soldiers from the “Ciro Order,” a large faction from the world’s central continent of Ciro have set up camp near the forest. Their presence has been increasingly stressful for the village due to safety concerns and strained resources.
Together, Achaius, Aero, and Dominic begin their journey to the continent of Ciro with the purpose of saving the village.'

Shigi Tea-Time & The Funktrollers - Tapped Out

Also, speaking of videos, Laura recently went to TIGJam (an event where indie game developers meet up, chat, and work on the games they're making), and made a rap music video on the card game Magic: The Gathering with some other awesome guys (aka The Funktrollers). It's a great and funny video that I would definitely recommend watching, even if you haven't played Magic before :D
